Philip North-Coombes Bio

Philip has been established as a photographer for 21 years. He has worked extensively internationally and his work takes him on assignments around the world. Philip's campaigns through the years have ranged from shooting the top brands in the UK- Aquascutum, Dunhill, Jaeger as well as top magazines. Among them are Men's Health, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, The Sunday Times, and Vanity Fair. After reaching tremendous success in fashion photography he pointed his camera towards sports and leisure wear brands such as: Eddie Bauer, Speedo International, Ellesse, Adidas, Nike, and Aigle International. His assignments have taken him from Iceland to Brazil, USA, Thailand, Nepal, Europe, Seychelles, South Africa and many more exotic locations.

Philip feels it is important to be on top of his game and to re-invent himself. As a result, he has done underwater shoots and recently formed a film company called Doko Films. In 2006 and 2007, Philip has made the grueling 8-day trek up the Khumbu Valley to the Mt Everest Base Camp to co-produce with the BBC and Indus Films the international broadcast film "Everest ER". This film documents Mt. Everest climbing season from the viewpoint of the Mt. Everest Base Camp Medical Staff. The clinic, founded and directed by American Doctor Luanne Freer for the Himalayan Rescue Association in Nepal, is a non-profit project with a mission to treat and prevent high altitude illness and injury while funding free health care for the impoverished Sherpa people. Philip has been combining stills with video and film and producing in store/web/commercial work for many of his clients. Doko Films also has been commissioned by the NDCS (National Deaf Childrenís Society) in the UK and abroad to document their great work.

Philip's work is innovative, imaginative and exciting. His way of working is very positive and he is looking to get the best out of the team in order to get the best results.

"I love "Capturing the Moment". It allows us all who view the picture to create their own story and use their own imagination. I feel very fortunate to do what I do. It has enabled me to travel around the world and be a part of some very exciting projects."

As a result of Philip's exciting and powerful images he has had the honor of receiving a Merit Award and a Judges Choice Award at the annual Association of Photographers (AOP) Awards. In addition to his awards, The British Journal of Photography published a four-page cover story on Philip's body of work.
