Rod Novoa was raised in NYC by his stylish dressmaker grandmother. At an early age he would collect all the fabric scraps from her sewing machine and sew outfits for his GI Joe and Star War's figures. He quickly became fascinated by fashion documentaries and films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Auntie Mame, Funny Face, Belle du Jour among many others.
Rod graduated with honors from The Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Visual Display and Merchandising. A year before his graduation, he was already working in the Visual Merchandising Department of Macy's and met his mentor Linda Fargo who is the current Creative Fashion Director of Bergdorf Goodman. It was a quick decision that working with mannequins was not in his future so he moved to Paris and began his styling career. While in Paris, he established relationships with fashion photographers and began styling for major publications such as DUTCH, Le Standard, Glamour, Numero, L'Officiel and Pop. In between jobs he was flying for work all over the US and abroad in Singapore, Tokyo, Milan, London and Moscow.
Rod became known for casting and styling for runway shows in NY, Miami and LA. Advertising Campaigns, Look Books, Catalogue and TV Commercials followed right after. Rod continues globe trotting all over the world. His creativity and laid back calm personality has made him a viable source in fashion with long lasting clients all over the world.
At the present time, he resides in Chelsea, NY with his Brussels Griffon named Oscar Lagerfeld.
