Malibu native, fashion stylist and Designers Against Aids spokeswoman, Katharine Polk, is an expert in all things fashion. Her fresh, creative eye for styling has caught the attention of some of the most important people in the fashion industry; and designers, photographers and models canít get enough of her friendly California demeanor.
Katharine may have grown up in Los Angeles with a family in the business, but television/film didnít quite grab her attention like fashion and accessories. From the young age of 5 (while hanging with the wardrobe ladies on set,) Katharine immediately knew that she wanted to work in the fashion industry. Her favorite designers are Stella McCartney, Helmut Lang, Chloe, Lanvin, Rick Owens, and Chanel. She can most often be found in a mix of Vintage with a leather jacket and a scarf.
After graduating from the Fashion Institute in Los Angeles, with a degree in Fashion Design, Katharine moved to New York City where she took a job in designing and styling at Badgley Mischka Couture. Some of her key designs included Swimwear and shoes. Her designs went on to be a Best-selling line at Neiman Marcus and were featured in Vogue, Elle, Glamour WWD, In Style and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
After a few years at Badgley Mischka, Katharine decided to break out on her own and has taken the fashion industry by storm. She has produced and styled several fashion shows as well as styling for magazines such as Visual Tales, Self Titled and Chaos Magazine. Her impressive career extends to the world of television with a fully accessorized 14 look fashion show previously on Americaís Next Top Model and a 27 look show on Lifetime series BLUSH. As for celebrity dressing, Katharine has styled Ksenia Solo of Black Swan, Emmy winner Bruce Gowers (Best Director), American Idol Jordin Sparks, and Matt Lanter of 90210.
Katharine incorporates her design background with her eclectic style to produce a creative event with an unforgettable look.
Ms. Polk is currently living in NYC with her English Bulldog Jonesy.
